Welcome to
The Twelfth Annual
Bergen County Golf Classic

THE BERGEN COUNTY GOLF CLASSIC was started in 1998 by a dedicated group of volunteers from Bergen County’s United Way and the Volunteer Center of Bergen County. To date, the event has raised more than $480,000 to help build a local volunteer services infrastructure and to help people access the services they need in this community, including:

  • Management and administrative support of the NORTHERN NEW JERSEY BUSINESS VOLUNTEER COUNCIL, a coalition of businesses whose employees help meet critical needs of low-income children and families;
  • Publication of the GUIDE TO VOLUNTEERING, a handbook of volunteer opportunities published annually and distributed free of charge to individuals, businesses, schools, communities of faith and civic clubs;
  • Maintenance of a searchable VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DATABASE at www.bergenvolunteers.org.
  • Support to sustain 2-1-1, United Way’s statewide, 24-hour help line for people living and working in this community; and
  • Increased resources for THE COMPASSION FUND, providing direct financial and other assistance to local families and individuals in need.

Bergen County's United Way helps people, 24 hours a day, everyday, wherever help is needed. We fulfill our mission by providing direct services to the most vulnerable residents in our community and developing programs and financial resources to address unmet needs. BCUW makes help happen.

A call to 2-1-1 or click onto nj211.org connects you to a caring professional who knows community resources - whether it is a time of crisis or everyday concern. Calls to the United Way's 2-1-1 helpline are free and confidential. Warm and caring call specialists are available to handle calls in all languages, 24 hours every day of the year. For more information visit http://www.bergenunitedway.org

Founded in 1966, the Volunteer Center of Bergen County strengthens the community by connecting people with opportunities to serve, operating model volunteer programs, building capacity for effective volunteering, and participating in strategic partnerships that meet community needs. We connect individual adults, students and seniors - as well as groups from schools, businesses, community and faith-based organizations - with places where their good intentions can be put to good work, and we help nonprofit organizations effectively engage their volunteers and their Board of Directors. We also provide direct services through two mentoring programs, which assist abused or neglected children and overwhelmed mothers in need of guidance, and a home repair service that keeps the elderly and disabled safe in their own homes.
