Welcome to
The Fifteenth Annual
Bergen County Golf Classic

The Barclays, one of the premier events on the PGA Tour schedule, was played at Ridgewood Country Club in 2008 and 2010. "One of my Top 10 courses in the world," raved CBS golf commentator David Feherty at the 2010 Barclays.

THE BERGEN COUNTY GOLF CLASSIC was started in 1998 by a dedicated group of volunteers from Bergen County’s United Way and the Volunteer Center of Bergen County. To date, the event has raised almost $950,000 to help build a local volunteer services infrastructure and to help people access the services they need in this community, including:

  • Management and administrative support of the NORTHERN NEW JERSEY BUSINESS VOLUNTEER COUNCIL, a coalition of businesses whose employees help meet critical needs of low-income children and families;
  • Publication of the GUIDE TO VOLUNTEERING, a handbook of volunteer opportunities published annually and distributed free of charge to individuals, businesses, schools, communities of faith and civic clubs;
  • Maintenance of a searchable VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DATABASE at www.bergenvolunteers.org.
  • Support to sustain 2-1-1, United Way’s statewide, 24-hour help line for people living and working in this community; and
  • Increased resources for THE COMPASSION FUND, providing direct financial and other assistance to local families and individuals in need.

  • Today, after fifty years as one of the largest charitable organizations in the community, Bergen County's United Way has redefined itself as the direct service provider of choice for people who need help. Our mission is to help people 24 hours a day whenever and wherever help is needed by providing concrete solutions to critical community problems – with tangible results. Our services include: 2-1-1 our 24 hour statewide service that answers every call or click for help; The Compassion Fund to provide temporary financial assistance for people in crisis; and Housing Works the creation of new affordable housing for working poor families and individuals with special needs.

    Bergen County's United Way is a 4-star charity named by Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator. It’s their highest rating; developed to help donors choose charities that are efficient, ethical, and accountable. For more information visit http://www.bergenunitedway.org

    Founded in 1966, the Volunteer Center of Bergen County strengthens the community by connecting people with opportunities to serve, operating model volunteer programs, building capacity for effective volunteering, and participating in strategic partnerships that meet community needs. We connect individual adults, students and seniors - as well as groups from schools, businesses, community and faith-based organizations - with places where their good intentions can be put to good work, and we help nonprofit organizations effectively engage their volunteers and their Board of Directors. We also provide direct services through two mentoring programs, which assist abused or neglected children and overwhelmed mothers in need of guidance, and a home repair service that keeps the elderly and disabled safe in their own homes.
